So my 2006 ZX3 does not have a tachometer in stock and I bought an aftermarket tachometer and have it wired up but I do not know where to put the tach signal wire to. I have researched and my car does have COP system and I have read I need a tach adapter. Is this true? Does anyone know where to wire the tach signal wire to? If so show pictures please, I am a visual person.

You'll need a Ford Racing Tach Driver to provide the signal for the aftermarket tach.

They do not make the Ford Racing tach adapter anymore, would the autometer 9117 still work? And if so would I hook that to the crank senor then in the ECU pin? Also if so with that, would that be into the positive or negative wire?

Wouldn't know, most just swap instrument clusters to get a tach..

The notes I read refer to EITHER under hood hookup OR hookup near the PCM not both.

Contact Autometer, they gave me a good explanation and even had a PDF diagram for the Ford Focus COP system. They make an adapter.
