Hi aperson9923,If you could help me get in touch with my dealership as i want to inquire about having a backup camera installed.
I want one! What do I ask for, is there a name for the kit? They really got it to work with MFT? Sweet!I had the dealer install an aftermarket backup camera on my titanium which does not have parking assist, and the video comes through the MFT screen, Ideal set and only cost me about 300
Hey, FLIR - now THAT'S something to think about. Actually, if you live in town and have a simple driveway and no kids, then I suppose it's just on for giggles. But I live on a ranch with grandkids, dogs, cats, chickens and ducks. Also, my driveway is frequently littered with log splitters, tools, wheel barrows, garden carts, motorcycles, etc, many of which are just below the rear window view and inside what I can see from the side-view mirrors as I back out of the garage - it would be useful, trust me.There is something very depressing about a backup camera on a car as small as a Focus. Seems to me that if one's situational awareness is poor enough to need a backup camera on a car of this size, they probably need a FLIR, too.
I don't live in SOCAL but I did call Jose. He said he had done "2 or 3" of these installations with the NAV-TV equipment which, by the way, cost a lot more than $300. He said it's real tricky and whoever you have make the installation should be very competent. He didn't say anything about any of it not being available to the public. I also talked to and got an email from the Parts/Maintenance Manager at Bob Wonderies Ford out there. He told me about an aftermarket product they install. It's a rearview mirror that has 3 functions. Touch screen navigation, automatic night vision back up camera, and Bluetooth. If you already have some of this stuff or you don't want it, you can get the automatic night vision camera only. He said it doesn't interfere with any other functions of the car. I think this is what I'm gonna do, with the back up camera only.I got a lot of messages about the backup camera that I added that works through the MFT screen so I did some research and my dealer sent my car to a place called audio specialist. they added a unit that is called INTRAPHEX (not available to the public they say) that allows a 3rd party camera to interface with the MFT system. if you live in SOCAL you can give Jose a call
