Hey everyone I bought an aftermarket digital tach for my car. It says to hook the input wire for the tack to the negative output on one of the coils. Does anyone know which wire this would be on one of the coils or how I would test this with a volt meter. I suppose I could just back prob the coil wires until I get a reading to the tack but I want to actually learn how to do this.

Here's one old thread, but the pictures are gone now:http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52986

You can search for more recent ones.

Easiest way to get a tach. is to swap in a cluster that has one. Using an aftermarket tach. works when you purchase a "tach. driver" and wire that in for the signal required to run one designed to work off of an old single coil distributor type ignition system.
