I just purchased a '00 focus zts that I will be racing at the local paved oval track. I will be doing a few modifications, including an svt header with a 2.5" straight pipe and cold air intake.

I have been told I will need to have my car tuned because it will run too lean with those two modifications. Is this really the case? I have an unlocked sct xcalibrator2 that I planned on using to raise the rev limiter with. Will I be able to richen up the a/f ratio with that? If it's possible, how much should I adjust it to?

You will be far better of getting a tune , you have a xcal and I charge 150.00 for a full custom tune file and you get free tune updates for as long as you own the Focus , well worth it for what your doing in my opinion

Tom, while I would really love to have a tune, I can't afford one. This car is already costing me more than I would have liked due to some issues that I was not expecting when I bought it.

Then I wouldnt add the parts listed above , use all stock parts and run 98-100 octane
