No, it isn't. You'll just be losing a little bit of flow.

it's not pointless, you can tell a big difference in throttle response, but there is a restriction there and will be more free flowing if it gets ported

you don't need to port to notice the gain, it helps
but for an average person dont' bother, just get a sri and a tb
cut the lunchbox off the back and it sounds damned good
