Can anyone tell me how to change the oil in the AT gearbox and which ATF oil to pour (which standard and from which manufacturers, probably Dextron III). It is a 4F27E transmission on a Ford Focus 2002, 2.0, petrol, made in USA.

Thanks in advance for the answers,

If it has high mileage I only do a drain and fill. Mercon V. Pull the pan, replace the filter. Reinstall pan using sealer and no gasket. Add the 3 quarts lost in the pan pull. You can also have a drain plug added to the pan while it is off and then do a drain and fill every engine oil change. Do not machine flush the transmission. The other alternative is to remove the output line from the radiator cooler and place in a container. Have 8 quarts of fluid open. Start car and allow fluid to pump into the container while adding fresh fluid into the dipstick hole. Continue until fresh fluid is seen coming out of the line. I dont like this method due to the possibility of braking the plastic connector on the line.
