Hello!

I'm a mechanic and I'm currently trying to figure out why this 2016 ford focus SE won't start.

Context: The car just didn't start in a parking lot. No clicking, just nothing.

I bench tested and replaced the starter.
I checked the voltage in the battery.
I checked to make sure I had power coming to the starter.
I checked the neutral safety switch.
I pushed it harder into park, I know this has been a common problem.

I jumped the starter and it turns over the motor fine, it just didn't start. (I'm assuming some type of security system thing?)

I do have to jump the car now when doing any tests as the battery has gotten weaker. When I connect the battery now the engine makes a bunch of ticking and motorized component noises. It sounds like its resetting something. Not sure if this is related to the issue.

When I try to start the vehicle now, I get one click. On the odd time, I get 2 clicks. These clicks are coming from the starter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

If the battery has a bad cell it will not jump start. Load test the battery. Ford paints the car and then installs the grounds. Remove all of the grounds from the body behind the battery and clean the paint off and reinstall.
