Just an inquiry about the lower rear valence, with the center exhaust outlet.

Will this part just swap over to the standard bumper cover? I would suspect as much since the bumper cover appears to be the same between the ST and non ST hatchbacks.

The bumper cover on my ST is all one piece, there is no lower valence. If you want the center cutout you have to change the entire bumper cover.

As this picture from the ST media drive in Ann Arbor, Mi sure shows the seam in the exact same place as the stock MK3 as shown below. It just clips into the bumper cover, but the whole cover does not need to be replaced.

That doesn't look integrated, despite being painted body color.

Might also need the reflectors if they were different, but the valence sure clips in to the cover.

It's also shown as the bumper extension part in the parts catalog:

It might be easier to just take a notch out of the stock bumper extension/ valence, but that may not look as good as the other option.

I will be dammed! I thought that was just a molded in feature line. I went and looked at mine and sure enough it's a separate piece.

I stand corrected.

We learn something new every day.

I've looked at that page in the catalog before, as well as having spent many days looking at STs parked in the lot of the office where I used to work near Dearborn where they were doing some testing on these cars. The hood, fenders, and body are identical to the standard car, but the lower side skirts, front bumper, and lower valence piece would all interchange fairly easily.

The front bumper cover just swaps on as a single piece assembly once its painted up. Just a few other pieces go with it.

It looks amazing in this color, which is amazing considering that Ford never thought would work.

It does look like I'd need the reflectors and the black slatted grilles though to make it look finished as the reflectors are much shorter on the ST than on the stock valence.

Oddly enough, I had heard that the part in the diagram 13A565 or the reflectors, were expensive..... like $80 a piece. haha. I hope this is something you will do if the price is right. Will look amazing.

They are, but more so than that. A pair is supposedly hundreds.

There seems to be some confusion as two different parts at two different price levels are listed as being the ST reflectors, although I think that's because the base level parts for the non electric hatch are being flagged as being for the ST.

When I searched through the ford parts catalog using an ST vin and the base number for the reflectors it showed two different sets of parts, one about $60 list price, the other nearly $300. If they are almost $300 each then I'm not doing it as the lower valence had a list price of close to $250 in and of it self.

It might look best/ better to use the ST pieces, but not for $500 just in two tiny pieces of plastic, but that's why I tried to ask Village Ford what they were asking for these pieces.

Sorry I am late to the party. This new computer system is killing us...

The total for the lower valance, both reflectors and both lower grilles is $606.78.
As mentioned, the reflectors make up the majority of the cost @ $194.04 each (must be gold plated)?

For the same money you can have a full valance and change, or a single reflector. [rofl]

So what were the part numbers, and cost for just the lower valance and the two grilles?

I won't need the reflectors as I was able locate the genuine parts from europe directly for much less than what Ford wants for them here.

It's as if they are purposefully trying to discourage people from changing these parts here by putting a punitive pricing structure.

I know you can't control what they are asking for them, but somethings just don't make sense.

The only recourse we have is to do a pricing analysis inquiry and hope that Ford realizes that the price is out of line with the acquisition cost of the part. I'll try on Monday and see if they will see the error in their way and correct it for future customers.

Subtracting the $194.04*2 from your $606.78 price quote is $218.74 which is not that far out of line with where I was thinking before, but yeah it's parts like the reflectors that would have made me either say no to the whole set of parts, or to have to work around not having the reflectors.

Could you confirm the part numbers for the valance and the two grilles and their availability?

Thanks.

That's not bad minus the reflectors. I found the lower valance, but couldn't find a price on the grills and reflectors.
