If I remember correctly, the recall letter I received said that those who fixed the CPV on their own BEFORE the recall was issued would be eligible for reimbursement so if you do it yourself now, it might be a fight to get any money back.
There have been instances in the past where Ford has refused reimbursement in cases where vehicle owners have made the repairs themselves. The reason being that receipts for parts lack a VIN number as proof that the repair was made to the applicable vehicle. Given that nearly every 2 litre Focus is being recalled, that shouldn't be a problem. You will have to provide documentation proving that the repair was done though.
