The starter must turn the engine over many times until the car actually starts. I have these error codes.

P0087 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low Bank 1
P053F - Cold Start Fuel Pressure Performance
Odometer: 182,563 miles - 2012 FORD Focus 2L L4

This is what it looks like when the engine is running - the net fuel trim is about zero and the car drives fine -

With this recommended repair : REPLACED DIRECT INJECTION HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP
However, the car is driving just fine, it just struggles to start. Do you think the high pressure pump is indeed bad ? Could the problem be with the low pressure pump ? The previous owner of the car seems to have lifted the rear seat up, possibly to do something with the low pressure fuel pump.

When you go to crank it what is the fuel psi with the log psi pump and high psi pump ?

Your trims are off by 15 % + which is a little much but hard to really tell by a snap of the log

What scan tool are you using? I am having issues with a 2012 and may need to get a tune, from Tom, perhaps, and I don't want to buy the wrong scanner to begin with.

I pulled of the high pressure pump today, and the cam follower is fine. This system thankfully has a follower and not just a bucket (which is prone to wear and damage)

The spring looked crushed in on the fuel pump, similar to the youtube video I posted earlier. I will grab a fuel pump (or two) at the junkyard

The X4 Flasher that comes with the Custom Tune also scans/datalogs , reads and clears the CEL this way you can log the Fuel Psi on both Pumps and not just guessing and throwing parts at it
