I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, I'm new to the forum.

I'm looking to replace the head gasket on my 2012 focus SE. I just bought the Hayne's manual and it looks like they're saying to remove the timing chain cover. I'm wondering, if I put the crank timing pin in, as well as the camshaft alignment tool, would it be possible to just hold tension on the chain and replace the gasket without pulling the whole cover off? I've done this exact process on other engines before but wanted to check if anyone has done this/if its possible.

Thanks in advance
