Hey, I have a 2010 Focus 2.0L SE 4 dr sedan. I had it checked out by a friend mechanic to see which mount needed to be replaced. Turns out, the flex pipe has a crack in it. Yay me! It's part of the manifold/cat assembly.

My question is this... I looked up a 2009 and the manifold/cat assembly does not have the flex pipe as part of it. The flex is separate. Would the 2009 assembly manifold/cat + flex fit on the 2010?

I looked under the car briefly since I had the idea of buying the 2009 flex, cutting one flange off and using a coupler to attach to the existing manifold/cat but it doesn't look accessible to make the cut to graph in the new flex (no room).

Thanks

That will be your possible problem, the flex may not fit up with the all-in-one-piece original pipe with that flex section cut off. And think CAREFULLY before sectioning the new flex, cut the flange off and flex often has nothing to bolt or clamp to, it being too flexible as well as corrugated.

You'll likely end up removing the whole thing to look at it well enough to determine the next move.

Looking at the '09 model for a separate part sounds like something I would do but you have only done part of the research so far.
