My SP 2001 blew up! I wanted to know if a 2009 SP engine will fit? with little or no modification. Actually, will any of the newer (2nd generation) (2004–2011) models fit?

NO "SPI" engines were used in the later models, so no direct swap possible.

There's wealth of info. here on the Zetec twin cam engine swap to replace the SPI engine, that's been a fairly popular change to make. It IS more involved than just bolting in an engine, wiring harness/PCM is involved as well.

Later model Duratec engines? Haven't seen it done. Those would require an almost complete swap of the car's mechanical bits to complete the job - you'd only be reusing the body shell/interior. Engine & transmission plus ALL the pieces to make them work would be required.
