I have a 2007 (auto trans) focus with a little less than 100k miles. I was noticing some rattling/clunkjng going over bumps at low speeds. I recently had my sway bar end links replaced and I checked those first. But after they were good I looked jnder my car and saw that a small tube connected to the bellows of the steering gear were disconnected on one side! I popped it back in but now it rattles (which i believe is hitting the sreering gear at low speeds). Is there any way to fix this before taking it to a shop?

Thanks in advance everyone!

That equalizing tube "should" be held away from hitting things if rotated into the proper position, and I doubt a rattle from it would be very loud.

I had an end link loosen up soon after replacement, causing a similar noise. Checking close (and prob. with a wrench) would prob. be a good first step.

After that it's trying to wiggle all the other joints, starting with just trying to move the tire before jacking it up.
