Hello,

Thanks for letting me into the group! Not sure where to post this question, but i'll start here.

I have a 2005 focus with the 2.0 Duratec engine. The thing burns oil like it's going out of style. My question is: I can get ahold of an engine, but it's from a 2008 focus. Common knowledge says the interchange is only 2005-07. The only difference I seen with the two engines is the electronic throttle body on the 2008. Will the 2008 engine work in place of the 2005?

Engine will work but intake will def need to be swapped.

What is different about the intake? Do the 2008s have those stupid plastic flaps inside the intake?

One has an electronic throttle body & one doesn't - that part bolts to the intake.

They all have the "IMRC" tumble flaps.

You may find other bolt on pieces that aren't identical, base engine is the only part that's sure to be OK (like maybe different connectors on a sensor for example).
