Just got a super cheap 04 zts. Rear wheel ready to fall off. Never seen this problem before. Guess the wheel bearing is really bad. Any advice about this project? Seen a few YouTube videos. Got the Brake and abs light on. Don't want to go to the parts store and miss anything. What would cause the ABS and Brake light to be on?

Bearing dead enough to let sensor reading distance get off enough to not read right. If dead enough you may even have damaged wheel sensor.

The bearings typically can come in two quality groups, the lesser ones go for roughly $25 and can go bad almost instantly and the higher priced ones last much longer. Those can go for around $50.

Best practice is to replace the spindle at the same time.

Thanks. Appreciate the assist. Can't don't the sensor online. What is the specific name of this sensor? I found a few but says it's for a different year. What would be the part number/link for a sensor for my 2004 zts

Shit. Bought an entire drum with bearing inside. Installed it. Forgot to put grease on it. Seen many videos and they don't put grease. Is it pre greased? Also don't see any abs ring? The old one did not have any ring.

Sealed bearing. If you have a sensor in the rear spindle you have rear abs. If there is no wiring harness going to the rear brake you dont have rear abs. If you do then the original sensor ring came off the drum.

The ABS light should not come on if your car does not have ABS. The ABS (aka Wheel Speed) sensor is mounted in the spindle from the back. Check again.

They use a cartridge type bearing which is preloaded with grease unless you buy the cheap crap Chinese one which may have very little in it. I had one fail instantly once and it was bone dry, never factory greased.
