goes just fine down the road but come to a stop and gauge goes to the scary side,
cooling fans are not coming on...
thermostat is working, jumper wires to fan and fans are fine...

when I unplug the wire from the CHT sensor the fans come on ???
is it normal for fans to come on when sensor unplugged?
do you think the culprit is the CHT sensor?

Don't know, but that sounds normal to me.

I do not think the CHT sensor is the culprit.

Is the car equipped with AC? With AC on = fans should turn on Hi-speed soon after.

Do a search for Odometer Test Mode; allows you to monitor what the CHT sensor thinks the engine temp is. I think my car hits about 110 to 115 C and THEN the low speed fans turn on; and the temp climbs down.
