Own a 2003 SE with wipers that do not park properly and land at various parts of the right
windshield when using the intermit mode. If I push the lever down for a once sweep it stopps
imediately when the lever is released.

The motor was recently replaced (Ford Part from dealer), no improvement.

Is there a recall (mail from dealer says none) or a fix as it's driving my mechanic crazy.

Otherwise, I love the car.

Thanks

I would think it't the wiper stalk/lever itself that's bad. At least that's what it sounds like to me. The switch itself is what tells the motor to wipe, so if when you hold it down on mist and it wipes but as soon as you release it it stops, it probibly means the swithch itself is bad.

2003 Windshield Wiper Problem Fix

Thanks for your help guys, found the culprit. Turns out to be the wiper relay($19), located in the driver side "fuse box".

In theory it dosn't affect normal wiper functions, only intermittent, however it does.

Wish I had known this, would have saved me the cost and labor of a new motor.

FYI, there is a technical service bulletin on this (TSB 04-15-2).

It seems there may have been a defective batch affecting 2002-2003s.
