I know the 2.3 came in the hatches like elliot had, but did they come in a sedan? i'm unaware if they did.

Yes. I know it was standard, actually required, in california in 2004, and I have seen an '03 sedan with a duratec as well. I had a 2004 sedan with a 2.3. It would have otherwise been an SPI. So I guess CA's strict regulations helped me. I never thought I would say that.

ok, cool, i thought it only came in a hatch. there is one locally to me for cheap, and i think i'm gonna grab it for my rally car build cause i have a hatch shell.

SD has it right, it replaced the SPI and was in base models with the smog in cali. I've seen one here in TX before, though majority of them are auto's unfortunately
