Hi All, new to the forum and my first post:

I have just purchased a 2002 Focus for my daughter to go with out family 2010 focus.

The blower is not working - troubleshooting to date is below:

Replaced the blown 40A fuse under the hood - it blew as soon as the car was turned on.

Disconnected the Resistor from behind the glove box, seems to be resistance at al points.

Disconnected the motor and repleced the fuse.
Level 1 - no power
Level 2 - no power
Level 3 - no power
Level 4 - no power - fuse blows immediately.

I have bought a new switch from NAPA and tried it, same result as above, fuse blows on level 4.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Has the car ever been in an accident? There is a wire that is shorting. I know its easier said than done but you're going to have to find the shorting wire. Examine the wires going to the motor and follow the wiring. Look for damage (rodent damage maybe?)

Good luck
