The cover on my key opened up and the little transponder piece fell out.. Then it broke while I was trying to glue it in
Dealership wants $45 for the key and $90 to program it.. Can I program it myself??

Programming your own replacement can ONLY be done IF you have two existing operational programmed keys for the car on hand.

This is the security feature that prevents a single key being copied. Valet or loan, handing out one key with the car doesn't let someone make a working copy.

(technology has reduced this protection, a "clone" of the RFID key can be made but it goes dead when the battery gives up)
