Bought a new tensioner for the 2003, but went to install it today and the belt is now too short. WTF. Plugged in my Vin # on tasca and it says this is the correct part.


Old part # 3S40-6A228-AA
New part # 6E5Z-6A228-B

New part has # on it different from bag, it shows 6E5Q-6A228-BD

Obviously the wrong part. Looks like it won't even install.

Never mind, error was on me.
Belt was riding on an outer groove of a pulley, not fully seated.

Revised part on Ford's end was not the problem, skipping breakfast and coffee was a bigger issue.

Just looks like a design change to me.

Same type issue on '02, it seems they changed the range and clocking of the tensioner slightly, belt that ran for years now at limit of tensioner......GGRRRRRR...
