I have a 2014 Focus with 129,000 miles. Does this letter mean that if I paid out of pocket twice to replace the clutches because it was out of warranty, once in September 2017 ($210 with price worked out by Ford) and again in May 2019 ($1500, no special price), I would be eligible for a refund?

And does it mean that if I still need a clutch replacement before Feb 2020, they will replace it again at no charge?

While it is good to see the Feb 20, 2020 date in writing, it seems as thought the dealerships and Ford corporate is applying this in a more narrow fashion than we all would like. That is, this new program brings in additional model years into the extended warranty without necessary broadening the terms of the 14M01/14M02 programs for those covered under its terms. So, if you've already had a clutch replaced under 14M01, you might have trouble getting a dealer to agree that you qualify for the new program if you've exceeded the time or mileage limitations.

This is probably the reason that I didn't get a letter for my 2012 saying that i qualify for 19N07/19N08. In addition, I contacted someone at Ford who said I don't qualify for anything.
Have you checked ETIS using your VIN to see if these new programs show up?

It also seems that Ford doesn't want to be continually replacing clutches even if the replacement ones aren't working either given the emphasis on the "one time replacement." This does not give one great confidence that they have indeed fixed the problem but rather are looking to limit their losses.
When the entire problem is that the transmission is wholly defective, yeah, they haven't fixed it. And never will. The DPS6 will never see an improved version. It's history.

Rest assured, the trans fiasco is one reason why Ford wants to go to SUV only, to make a cleaner break with a problem line they intentionally stretched way longer than they should have. They gotta quit making parts including clutchpacks at some point..
Oh, but I'm quite sure they have a stockpile of them. The DPS6 with little or no variation whatsoever was sold worldwide until the refresh in 2015. I'm sure that decision was made to start using up the DPS6 in a single market they were planning to dump anyway.

No one can answer that but Ford, unfortunately. I'd suggest calling up the DPS6-specific customer service number (found in the first post) and start by mentioning only the 2019 replacement. If they're willing to reimburse you for it, get that set up. Only after that's in the works, then mention the 2017 fix. They might not give you any trouble, but if they are only willing to do one, you'd better start with the expensive one.

Put your VIN into ETIS (Vehicle Lookup) and see if 19N08 shows up for you.

I did check ETIS for my VIN (2012 SEL) and only 14M01/14M02 and 19S22 show up. The new ones do not. I also gave my VIN to a Ford rep a few weeks back and they said my vehicle does not qualify. That's why I'm saying that Ford does not seem to be interpreting the language the same way rczrider does. I think that they are saying that the new provisions only apply to the model years that were added by 19N08. They do not add the "one time fix" to the vehicles covered under 14M01. If you can find anything official from Ford that says otherwise, I'm all ears.

I'm in the process of a DPS6 to MTX75 swap to be done with this and I thought I would try the "one time fix" for the tranny that's coming out so I could possibly sell it as one with a new clutch pack but it looks more like boat anchor material at this point.

So ford wants me to go to the dealer and tell them to give me money back.

well that's going to be fun.

What about rental cost?

I have one dealer that changed companies, will they honor the old?

sigh. Ford never makes it easy

I was inquiring about how my nieces Focus was running. I asked if her transmission was “problematic” , I realized how true that statement was. If nobody has claimed credit for naming the dual clutch trans “ Fords Problematic “ then I will!

When I put my VIN into ETIS it says this. Not sure if that 196 is an error code? Or how to look in goasis either. I don't have an account for etis to login to see anything.

You don't really need ETIS to tell you if you qualify now that the policy has been published. Look at the post by GhiaFam on the second page of this thread. It's all there in black and white including the reimbursement issue.

Except that some user doing a copypasta from the letter doesn't really mean anything.

Apparently, some folks who were covered under the 14M programs are not eligible for the 19N programs (per ETIS, which reflects what dealerships see). That's why I recommend checking ETIS, to see if you're covered. The dealership almost certainly isn't going to make an exception, since they won't get reimbursed by Ford.

It's certainly possible that it's an oversight or programming bug of some kind, but I think it's more likely that Ford determined there was no reason to make those vehicles covered under 14M covered by 19N as well (or instead). The only difference - though it's a big one, IMO - the one-time clutch pack replacement if you're past the 7y/100k extension.

Understood but he already checked ETIS and got some screwy results. Furthermore, his model year was not covered by 14M so the 19N does apply to him as it adds his model year. So, it looks like he's covered as long as the can't say the failure was caused by a non-covered component. It will be interesting to see what shows up in ETIS on the dealer's end. A quick call to the dealer would clear that up.

In my particular case, I was covered by 14M but not the 19N for my 2012 and the ETIS search was consistent with this. I think it would be a fight for me to get any coverage under the one-time deal as ETIS does not show that I have any eligibility for this.

23000 miles.
Experiencing transmission shudder, dealer said it is not covered since build date is 08/2016.

Called ford and no luck. ?

Thought I'd update on my post from September. I did get reimbursed by Ford for the two clutch replacements I mentioned below, in addition to a repair we paid related to the purge valve that happened the month before they issued THAT recall. We met with the service manager, he said he'd submit it and it would take about a week before he heard back, but he called a couple hours later saying everything was approved!

I'm going to be taking my car back in for it's fifth (and last before I buy something new) clutch replacement soon since the May '19 clutches have been shuddering for the last month and it's only getting worse. They should be under warranty since they only lasted barely 6 months.

Just another data point to show that these replacement clutches/seals is just a band-aid fix, not a permanent one in any way. It is a joke that a major transmission component lasts less than a year. This is why Ford needs to come up with a better solution for a lasting fix. They are trying to put an end to the repairs with the new warranty extension (19N08) but hopefully the courts will make them do something more meaningful.

First: my sympathy for buying a Focus.

Second: in what way are you not covered? The original drive train warranty is 5y / 60k, both of which you're still within.

So I can see on www.owner.ford.com that 2 "Field Service Actions" 14MO2 and 19NO8 are authorized for my 2014 Focus ( 80,000 miles), but on ETIS nothing shows up besides "Access to GOASIS (196)". I'm assuming my Focus is covered. Two different sites from Ford showing conflicting info- go figure.

Will this cover the transmission or only the clutch? We had the module replaced a year ago and have still had the shudder. I am guessing that the torque eventually snapped something in my transmission last week. Dealer is saying it is not covered. 2014 Focus with 82,000 miles.
That is a shame...just had mine replaced...still acting funny when taking off from 1st n 2nd...but so far no slipping outta gear....i tried like hell to get a manual...couldnt find 1...love the car besides the issue with trans...shoulda just put more money into my 2002 zx3 manual...oh well you live and you learn

And so you should be....it is a great transmission actually...just dont know why it seems like theirs no fix to problem...i wish i had waited till i found a manual
