has anyone thought of using parts from the escort for the focus. I have looked and found a headder that should fit no problem and as soon as I can afoord it I plan to buy it and find out. Still looking for more and am planning for 300 WHP N/A so we will see what happens, It will be awhile to get the money together but I have a list of what it will take if anyone is interested(I just hope it works).

300 whp with an SPI[scratch]

as for the escort header, you can use an Escort GT header on a foci, or find a used one that FC used to make, or a make a ZETEC one custom fit the SPI.

300 hp n/a is gonna cost booku money thats like buying a whole other car
but most likely u prolly wont make it to 250 let alone 300. im just tryin to bring u back down to earth

Why is it no one has faith. And why buy a mustang my friend has 2 one of which has 300hp N/A. Why do you say Impossible. It will take just shy of $5000 to get it then I plan to go turbo but not gonna say how much boost.

Your not very well informed...

There is no chance in hell of geting 300 hp out of a SPI N/A. There are not enough performance parts made for the SPI to hit those #'s, also on another note a N/A set up is completly diffrent than a Turbo set up you doing one and jumping to another would be pointless. There are LOTS of SPI pointers above in the SPI Sticky thread, do some reading and then decide what you want to do.

The person your gonna want to talk to is Jeffescort, he is the leading SPI Guru here.

Good luck with your goals but in your best interest read all the stickies, you have much learning to do.

Ok I have read all the stickies before I even thought of starting this build. I am an Auto Service Tech, and have built a few motors before. I have been searching for 3 months and have found a combination of parts along with some ingenuity and knowing the owner of a good performance shop. I have compiled a list of parts that should easily make it to 300 hp with forged internals and low compression, and if it wont make so what, thats why they invented nitrous. Aside from that the engine is being built to run N/A and easily be able to run turbo also with no trouble. But the only way to know for sure is wait and see.

Besides this thread wasnt to argue about whether or not I could make 300hp or not it was to see if any parts were interchangeable.

Well best of luck but have you got parts listed for the transmission, I'm sure you know the stock clutch and transmission essentials will not hold to that power.

Again best of luck I once owned a SPI and had a great time but even when parts were being made for the SPI focus/escort 300 HP was not feasable N/A. If you do get forged internals be sure to see if the company would sell more for people on here. One last thing though, the 5,000 price to reach 300whp is a bit off don't you think? for the custom internals alone I'd guess 700-800 and then + pistons, the 5,000 is gonna be a drop in the bucket.

For the few remaining parts I'd try www.escortfocus.com if they still sell em' you will have to talk to Jeffescort about anything interchangable.

I called JEPistons and to get forged pistons will cost less than stock pistons thats even having to have them custom made, Eagle makes forged rods and I believe they also make a crank.

just check the few SPI dyno sheets on here and you'll see that you wont reach 300 whp N/A, someone in quebec heavy moded a foci with the escort focus cams and the springs etc. he bought almost every bolt on SPI add on out at that time and made 150 whp!

The Intake manifold and throttle body will show MAYBE 4-5hp together a coil pack shows nothing for hp.

I know you don't want this thread to be an argument about if its possible to reach 300 N/A but please give me a peak into your head. What numbers are you expexting from each mod, I think you might be over shooting by a long shot.

well I am going to need the coil pack to stop misfire. When I get the money eventually, The head is going to be redone completely, the intake is at leastgoing to be port matched to the throttle body and head if not completely done away with for a custom one. Fully built bottom end, tuned ECU, full custom exhaust, custom intake. I am going to have the transmission done, not sure exactly how yet, thinking of trying to figure out how to put the SVT 6 speed in, and yes I will have a lightwieght flywheel with upgraded clutch. Along with a few other tips and tricks that if they work I will let ya'll in on later. But I have this thing about taking underpowered cars and being able to win, and I figure the SPI doesn't get enough credit so I am going to build it and see what happens. I might not get 300 but I am sure gonna try like hell. I am going to spend a lot of money on this project but if it wasn't for people trying the impossible we wouldn't be where we are in performance today.[wrenchin] [driving]
