Hi there! New Focus owner so this is my first post! Unfortunately it's to do with a problem.

I just bought a Focus 1 month ago and it had been great. But today on the way home from work the engine started jumping when I was doing around 40-50mph. It wasn't "spluttering" or anything like that just kind of rapidly losing power / gaining power.

I pulled over and switched the engine off/on then the same thing started happening at lower speeds. I made it home by changing gears to neutral and back but it was really sluggish.

On a side note I've also noticed the speedometer dropping to 0 a couple of times before now (didn't happen today though) so I don't know if this might be related.

Any help or advice would be great!

check ur vehicle speed sensor re the speedo dropping to 0...
is your engine light on??
do you have any codes stored?
as for the sputtering.. there could be loads of things causing it... commonly its a vacuum leak, bad coil pack or HT leads, could be your fuel pump on its way out, clogged fuel filter..
there are loads of possible causes.. if there are any codes, that would be very helpful.

welcome to the forum btw! good to see a fellow UK focus driver lol!
