Friday night i had a small 1/4", what looks to me, bypass hose blow. Have 168000 on the car just curious if this has happened to anyone else and if i should change my thermostat besides fixing the hose.

I would have had them both changed twice by then, but then that is why I haven't had a hose blow out in some 40 years now.

You don't wait to let the car set your schedule, it's how you end up with a big tow bill or walk home, not to mention have to buy another car because you thought you could make it home.
