Hey what's up guys. This would be my first time on this forum, just had a question. Just bought a 2009 Focus SE with the 2.0L Duratec, looking around found 2 or 3 Turbo Kits for it, and since I just bought the car I don't have too much cash left for modding, so I don't want to spend the $3,000 for a kit. I was checking out ebay, and found some universal kits, so I wanted to check out one of those kits, and get a downpipe and turbo manifold from F2, so in total I'd be looking at about $1500 for the kit + like another $400 - $500 for the ECU reprogrammmer, so for like 1/2 the cash I still get the power I need. So I just wanted some opinions, to see if this would be a descent route to go or not.

Not really looking to go past 7PSI on the stock internals, that would bring me around like 200 - 210HP, which would be fine with me for now.

Here's the universal kit I was checking out:

F2 Turbo Manifold:

F2 Downpipe:

Let me know what you guys think.

i will never touch this turbo kit. all these part are cloned.

the minimum boost is 8 psi. This setup is to big you will have a lot of lag.

Now this is a external wastegate, f2 manifold are not allow external wastegate on it.
you need a turbo with an internal wastegate.

this size of turbo kit is for big boost, but i will never put big boost on this crap.

You have a new car and you want put crap on it? check for an used focussport kit or f2.

do it right or don't do it don't put crap on your car.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking the same thing about the lag. Good to know about the wastegate didn't even notice that.

Hehe, that's why I was checking with others before I buy it, I wanted to know exactly how crappy it would be. [B)]

Back to the drawing board, I'm gonna check out how much the parts would cost separately, see if I can get some savings compared to the kits from FocusSport or F2.

honestly, turbo is not something i would want to cut costs with. id rather get a full kit from a reputable company. i know focussport has 2 different kits, one for beginners, one for mire experienced people

Good luck, you're going to have to pay for tuning also. If you try to do it yourself, and it ends up being too lean- no more engine.
Thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to get it professionally tuned if I do the parts separately thing. But I think I might end up going with the FocusSport kit if not.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm just going to save for 3-4 months and buy the FocusSport kit outright. Not completely sure though.

Its not something you should cut corners on, but it can be done. I know a lot of ppl on here dont like Focus Sport, and im not real fond of them either. But, there kit is pretty cheap right now, I think its for the earlier Foci, so some custom pipes would need cut but thats easy.
Or, you could use the F2 downpipe and manifold, buy a SPA internal wastegated turbo about $600 and make the pipes yourself. It would still be cheaper and all the important pieces would be warrantied. Also the tuner itself wont let you do anything but flash the car for 93 octane stock NA. You need the Pro Racer Pakage, which runs around $700. If you dont feel you could do it yourself, a tune from a good shop will cost about the same.

Seriously? It would still be cheaper if I had the pipes machined? [80?]

With stock internals I wouldn't be worried with going up to 9psi. I wouldn't go anywhere near this kit though. You will never get what you want by going to cheap route. You get what you pay for. Wait and save up for a nice kit so that you are happy with the outcome
