Yep, it's black - low gloss black engine enamel. I got a sneak peak of how it's going to look on the car because I played with my spare headlight first.
Oh and by the way, DO NOT try to take a short-cut when you're baking a headlight. I tried to hurry things up and I didn't even follow my own "headlight backing recipe" that's in the "how to" section. I can now present expert testimony that 20 minutes at 350' is NOT a good thing. [nono].

Nothing good. How about melting areas on the case, the yellow side marker and one corner of the lens. Not to mention the spider web heat lines thoughout the entire lens.
Luckily it was my spare - that I managed to get my hands on for a fraction of the cost of a new one. And it's still usable for it's original purpose - experimentation.

Yep, that's probably the layer that spider webbed on my spare headlight. I took both of my "on car" headlights apart yesterday without issue. And I have to get off my butt and go put them back together before before I get in trouble here.

I taped off the chrome under the side marker. On my test headlight I didn't like the way it looked with the black under it. The wires you see are for my LEDs. Oh damn, that reminds me, I still have to put at least one coat of black on the back and take the tape off the LEDs.
OK, so sit down and watch those football games [popcorn] while I'm out in my cold shop. No really, I don't want you to feel guilty about that at all.
