i have a friend with a 05 focus D-Tec that has its own smoke screen when u punch the gas it smokes the whole block out, and i also noticed that it has alot of oil in the tail pipe, the only thing i can think of is that oil is leaking into the cylinder from the head, has any one else had this problem or might now what the problem could be???????

Bad rings, bad valve stem seals, really bad head gasket, or cracked block/head. One of those. Either way you swing it, its gonna suck.

how do i check to see which on it is???????

Unfortunantly with internal oil leaks your kinda stuck with tearing into it to see. Some cars its easy to replace the valve stem seals to eliminate them as a possibility but not on the 05 Focus.

My gut feeling however is bad rings since it happens a lot under heavy engine load.

With that much smoke I wouldnt guess it to be valve guides

I would do a compression test / leak down test I would say you have some piston/ring damage and compression/leakdown would confirm this
