My '04 SVT will pass 90K miles shortly. I might keep the SVT another 50K. I'm wondering what should be replaced now. The two main age-related problems how are:
  • windshield wipers which don't park correctly
  • trunk latch which doesn't work consistently
So what should be replaced? How about:
  • Gear Oil?
  • Wheel Bearings Replace/Relube?
  • Shocks?
  • Fuel Filter?
  • Gas Tank Clean?
  • Cooling System Backflush & Refill?
  • Fuel Injectors Clean?

My 02 SVT is right at 90,000 and I'm getting ready to do the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, and serpentine belt. I will decide about the sepentine belt tensioner once the belt is off and I can inspect it. I was going to wait to 100,000 for this, but somebody here had a timing belt fail around 90,000, so no good reason to put it off any more.
Coolant swap and PCV valve are the only other things I'm doing immediately, I did my fuel filter about 15,000 miles ago, or I would be doing it now too.

I can't stress enough the timing belt, timing tensioner and idlers. I'm surprised it hasn't already broken.

SVTF is an interference motor!!!!!! If the belt breaks, you're screwed.

The wheel bearings are sealed. Don't replace unless there is an issue. Same goes for the shocks. Throw some new plugs if you haven't already. Gold coolant is due at 100k. Fuel filter should be done no later than every 30k and just dump some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank.

Have you checked the relay or the switch?
9 times out of 10, that's what the problem is, and not the motor itself.
Both are relatively easy replacements.
