i purchased what was supposed to be an "03" stock throttlebody for the motor i just put in my car and the tps did not match my wiring harness. so i bought the one that did mounted it and started the car, well when i did the idle shot up instantly. Spraying carb cleaner and a little big of time i found the tb wasnt sealing properly. Now when i bolted down the tb i noticed the threads didnt feel like they wur grabbing like i hoped they would. I have spent alot of money in bolts from ford and all have been wrong. These are some litttle tiny long machined bolts that should go in the 2000 intake manifold. Well i also went and bought a new gasket that was for an "03"dohc zetec well the gasket was ALOT bigger then the one that was on the tb.
so basically my question is, with the proper tps sensor should the 02 tb work as long as its tight?[rant] [dunno]
First off is yours a ATX(Auto) or MTX(Manual) transmission
I Hope you didn't start the car without the intake duct.. this engine requires that the duct from the IAC to the throttle intake be connected to run.. without it it faults the engine and with just a nudge ( without actually opening the butterfly will the rpm's hit the limiter)
If it did that WITH the duct it has a MASSIVE leak
03's will not properly fit 02's
00-02 are interchangeable 03-04 are interchangeable 05+ unknown
I have tried a 03 on my 01 and the gaskets are sitting prettymuch on the egde of the inner edges.., I grabbed an 02 for my 01 and it bolted in perfectly..
I studied this aswell when i was forced to replace my TPS ( went bad and CEL'd the car and it ran dangerously)
heres my 02 TB/TPS on my 01 Zetec with replacement Pigtail cuz my TPS was no longer available (ignore the arrow thats pointing to the Known Collapsing PCV tube for another post, mine is brand new tho) The screws you see holding them down are the factory ford screws (they are my originals).. there not machined screws.. the screws needed are similar to Self tapping these screws have really wide and deep threads to bite the plastic and not put stress on it
