We've been building and racing lot's of built motor Zetecs for years, and a constant enemy is lack of proper belt tension. Even on simply "squared up" cylinder heads, but moreso on our high compression NA motor builds, where we routinely remove lots of material, we find a great excess of belt slack.

The original Ford tensioner design in and of itself leaves alot to be desired - asking it for additional tension often results in failure with disastrous results. We've developed a simple solution for those with shaved heads with our new Premium Idler system. We offer them in 3 different diameters from stone stock to major material removal.

Fitment:
FORD
Year Model SubModel Cylinders Liter Aspiration Eng
1998 - 2000 CONTOUR ALL L4 ALL ALL ALL ALL
2001 - 2004 ESCAPE ALL L4 ALL ALL ALL ALL
1998 - 2003 ESCORT ZX2
ZX2 COOL COUPE
ZX2 HOT COUPE
ZX2 S/R ALL ALL ALL ALL ALL
2000 - 2004 FOCUS ALL ALL 2.0 ALL ALL ALL Zetec

1998 - 2000 MYSTIQUE ALL L4 ALL ALL ALL ALL

Here's what we are saying about them:

Increased precision and strength in this crucial department is now available. Designed for improved rigidity to avoid deflection, top of the materials for extended life. Available in OEM diameter and exclusive oversizes to take up slack created by head “shaving” / material removal. Even basic .010” head skim cuts for squareness will effectively make your belt .020” too long! Save your high dollar motor from destruction due to excess belt slop!!! Quality made in house here in the USA!

Billet Aluminum base features more than double the surface area for increased resistance to deflection. Premium Gates sourced roller offers OEM+ reliability. A2 Stainless button head cap screw looks great and provides 7mm deeper thread engagement for increased clamp load and access to clean virgin threads, restoring life to previously abused tapped holes in the OE aluminum head.

70mm

64mm

60mm (OE)

Right. Stronger more stable mounting. Extra thread engagement great if you have beat up threads on that tapped hole (which we have seen alot for some reason). Top of the line roller / bearing. Looks AWESOME. Could upgrade the base / plate to a larger roller later.

Break them down & have them powder coated or scuff & shoot them yourself. Then you can put your Brembo stickers on them.

Actually I would prefer blue but I've seen the purple and it's not that bad. Also from a business perspective stocking just one color is less overhead and therefore a better price for us.

Hey if you get the lightweight pulley you'll have a matching set in purple. [like]

Is there a chart to determine what diameter to use depending on shaving?
From the Massive website.

70mm for reduced thickness of 0.051" -0.080"

64mm for reduced thickness of 0.10" - 0.50"

That is correct. Per the site: "70mm size requires some material removal for proper fit if using OE Focus front timing cover. Can be easily completed with dremel or die grinder tool."

Takes a few moments really, not too bad.
