  1. Bosch Coil on Plugs?

    General Technical Chat
Wow Im very surprised how expensive those Motorcraft/Ford coils (DG562) are. I purchased a set of 4 of the Motorcraft DG541 coils for my 2005 Focus ZX4 in early 2017 from Rockauto and they were $31 each (now $34 each). I dont know anything about those Bosch coils other than the fact that Bosch...
  2. 2007 Focus SE unlocking itself when turned off

    General Technical Chat
The door lock/unlock function is controlled by the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) which is located up behind the passenger side kick panel. The GEM itself could be faulty or there could be a wiring issue or switch fault. Id be curious to see if disconnecting both door lock switches at their...
  3. Just bought a 2007 SE, what now?

    MK1 Focus
2007 = Mk1 (not '2nd generation'). Duratec engine used in some 2003-2004 and all 2005-2007 Mk1 Focus has a timing chain (not belt). Paul

    General Technical Chat
Did you run the engine with the serpentine belt removed to verify that it is/not being caused by the belt or accessory/pulley on the front of the engine? Keep in mind the serpentine belt drives the tensioner, idler pulley, water pump, PS pump, AC compressor/clutch, and alternator. Paul
  5. brake line rusted....

    Brakes, Suspension & Body Chassis
Thats pretty typical for here in the northeast. My 02 wagon isnt quite that bad but definately has its issues. The brake line from the MC to the front R (passenger) brake hose rotted thru just under the R strut tower and I had to replace that entire line. Luckily for me it let go in my own...
  6. 03 SVT: Replacing Brake Line, Any Tips?

    Brakes, Suspension & Body Chassis
Tom, I understand what you meant. Ive used NiCopp or CuNiFer copper-nickel brake line many times. The NiCopp is also sold at most parts stores in various straight lengths pre-flared with fittings installed. If you make you own flares just use this spec for 4.75mm (3/16") DIN/ISO bubble flares as...

  9. Possible battery issue

    General Technical Chat
5 seconds is a long time and an engine that 'died' for 5 seconds is OFF (not running). An engine that is off does not 'start up on its own'. What actually happened? What was happening that makes it need a jump start - no crank or crank/no start? Do you have a voltmeter/DVOM? Paul

  15. Keys (#640)?

    General Technical Chat
Easy. Those are the dual launch keys for Minuteman ICBM silo number 640. I read a notice for them on a milk carton a while back. I think the Air Force has a drop box you can leave them in. Paul

  17. 2005 focus, passenger high beam not working

    General Technical Chat
You want to check for voltage at the headlamp bulb connector contact which for the R (passenger side) is on the GRN/ORG wire. Turn the high beams on (verify that L side is on) and with multimeter set to DC volts connect the meter leads between the afore mentioned contact and battery ground. If...

The fuse boxes are designed to encompass fuses and relays for all equipment configurations - not all vehicles have all equipment. Ive attached a pic of the BJB in my 2005 ZX4 5-speed. My fusebox has the Air Pump Relay (upper left), Fog Lamp Relay (upper right), Fuse 4 (30A, Air Pump, front row...
  19. 2005 focus, passenger high beam not working

The fuse can be checked by just removing it and looking at it. Or if you have a test light, DMM, etc you can test it without removing it. Paul
  20. 2005 focus, passenger high beam not working

    General Technical Chat
Issue could also be a fuse as L&R uses seperate fuses. Please check fuse 27 (10A) in the BJB (Battery Junction Box) for the R (passenger) side. It is in the front row 1st from the right as you look at it. Paul
