I go to Advance and get the piece that you remove a fuse and plug in the part advance sells that holds 2 fuses and has a wire coming off it to use for things like your boost/AF gauges , they work great and you dont have to cut any wires

Go straight to a chassis ground, existing or one you test & make.

For dependability I usually do the same on a Bike, unless the whole circuit is already involved as in adding a lighting module where you are tapping into hot & ground of the same circuit.
