That calls for the removal of the HUMP. This may not be a good idea since it is there for a reason, to deflect large debris. I think HRW's idea is not only different but much more clever.

nah i seriously doubt anything harmful will get in there, plus it would have to pass through the filter too

I wonder why it's there then... Doesn't help stop water from flowing into the intake maybe? It rains everyday here.

Just an fyi...I left the front of the debris ridge or hump in place for mainly one reason...to help deflect the air passing through toward the snorkle intake.

Wouldn't that hump cause air to slow down at the snorkle intake? A shape like that would cause the flow behind it to become turbulent and probably wouldn't help get more cold air into the intake.

Based on HRW's temperature readings, I'd rather leave the hump alone just in case it performs some magical function. It does look like it will disrupt the airflow, but it works OK, too. Hehe I'm so anal I'd probably cover the hole behind the hump with a small screen, just in case a leaf tries to sneak in there.

Haha, good idea, I think I'll cover the hole that I'm goint to make too, even though I'm sure it's fine. It'll even look cooler, ghetto styles!

That's what I was thinking too. I guess if people removed the whole "hump" and were concerned they could always affix a screen of some sort to the snorkel, too...

I like the idea though, I'm keeping the whole HRW intake mod on my mental back burner for future experimentation.
