P0455, P0457 and P1518 - MAF

Okay, I was getting the P0455 and P0457 codes. I bought a new OEM fuel cap and within 25 miles I got the same codes again (maybe there was a pending code, I don't know) and then a P1518.
I had checked all of the vacuum lines for the Evap leak and everything looked fine. I was about to get a smoke test to see what exactly what was the problem. But I also got a P1518 at the same time. I checked the IMRC and everything looked physically okay to me. I was about ready to pull the IMRC to clean the contacts.
Then, someone on this forum, suggested to clean the MAF before doing anything else. Heck, two screws and a pressurized can of MAF cleaner can't hurt.
Hah, almost 300 miles after cleaning the MAF. Better engine response, and, knock on wood, no CELs.
Coincidence? I have no idea how they can be related. But if so, maybe good-bye K&N air cleaner and Hello paper.
I'm still waiting for another CEL.

They had nothing to do with the MAF , odd it got better but sounds like a Vac leak sense im guessing you have no way to datalog I would get a cigar and do a smoke test

Tom, I have an Xcal 2, but I have no idea how to use it except to read DTCs and reset them.
I probably have a vacuum leak. How can I use a cigar / pipe for a homemade smoke tester? It's just odd to me that no codes have shown up for almost 300 miles. I can be an idiot at times, so any education is cool with me.

Use a cigar , out of the sun with a light works best , find a Vac hose you know is good and put as much smoke from your mouth you can hold blown into the manifold , you should see no smoke coming from anywhere

Might see a little from the TB shaft , thats normal
