Confusion about removing 2004 SVT driver's side mirror

I recently came in possession of a new driver's side mirror for my 2004 SVT and came home thinking that I would be in for 30 minutes of work installing the thing. However after removing the interior plastic cover I realized my model year's mirror's are a completely different beast then to those seen in this form post

.

This model year does not appear to have a 10 mm mounting screw, instead seemingly mounted just by plastic inserts alone. As a result it seems the only way to remove the instillation is by brute forcing the mirror off, something that makes me worry I'll end up damaging something. I just want some confirmation from other owners that this is the correct path to go down, and if that is not the case then what exactly is.

Heres the progress I've made so far. Note where the screw should be in the first picture.

Well, ended up solving it the problem and replacing the mirror. NVH foam blocked the hole to access the only fastener for the mirror, a 10 mm bolt.
