How much fuel?

How much fuel you run is a balance between making sure you don't run out or loose fuel pressure but its also a case of adding more weight you may not need.

If you don't have a surge tank and are running stock fuel tank, pump, line, rail, and injectors. What would be the minimum amount of fuel you would want to have at the end of the race?

Are we talking just a gallon or two or do you want to end with at minimum a 1/4 tank?

If I use 1/4 tank on a session of 25-30 min of racing should I run it 3/4 full? Full tank? What does everyone else do?

My first session out there I am planning on filling it all the way up with race fuel (95 or 98 octane) to help blend the 91 pump gas I have. then after that keep it around 1/2 a tank full at the beginning of each race so I end with still a 1/4 of a tank. or do I just need to have 1/8 of a tank or 1 gallon in the tank?

In my experience you wont fuel starve till nearly empty. You have to remember that the pump is in the lowest part of the tank, and that when the gauge actually hits 'E' you still have a couple gallons in there. I did an entire track day at Willow Springs and Buttonwillow Raceway out here in california, 4 sessions each, 1/4 take per session give-or-take, without any starvation issues. Unless you are in competition, theres no real reason to only keep a certain amount of fuel in the car, it doesn't change things THAT much in a full weight street car under HPDE conditions, not enough to really matter anyway.

Short answer, Ive had it nearly touching the 'E' at the end of the day with no issues on a completely stock fuel system. Figure out your single session (each track is different) fuel useage and put that in +2 gallons and you will be perfectly safe.

Thanks!

Was not sure even with it being at the lowest point with out having a surge tank type set up if during the corners it would cause problems at 1/8th of a tank or less. I was not sure if Taking some of the long sweeping turns at .8 or higher G's would cause problems.

I made sure I always had a 1/4 tank of gas before going out onto the track.
