So I bought my 2010, 5-speed manual SE February 2016. It had 198,000 miles, is fairly beat inside and out, and cost me $1,300. I immediately put $35 into it for an antennae (apparently the old one had broken off). then a couple of months later put about $5 into it for new bolts for the heat shield under the gas tank (the rattle was annoying me)

2 weeks ago I put new tires on it and replaced the wheel bearings on the front, passenger side. I take it in for inspection today and have no reason to expect it to need any more work.

I've had less issues in my first year of ownership with this than either of my last two brand new vehicles.

Nothing too major. I get to replace tye-rods i think soon (mentioned they will need replacing in the near future) The passenger door has a few pannels that slip outta place and make a slight rattle, bought some 3m auto double sided tape.. hoping to fix that this weekend.

My 2004 has 135,000 miles on it and is on its fourth alternator. Plus two more that failed within a month of installation. First one lasted until 2011 then it has needed another one about every 2 years. The last one was February 2017, Other than that it has been great.

700 miles and nothing broken and a blast to drive, but I have run into a definite software issue with the Sony NAV unit. The issue is the highway labeling is incorrect when both north and south are showing on the screen. The unit shows I275 for the south but north direction shows I96. The other issue I have run into is when the screen brightness is on the threshold the screen oscillates between dim and bright 3 times in 1 minutes time before staying on dim. Other than that I am impressed with the vehicles driving characteristics. Lots of fun... 🏎 I would more than like purchase another focus in the future... waiting to see how this one ages.

I have a 2005 Ford Focus zx3, with the 2.0 Duratec, within the first month I had to replace the PCV valve hose, then a fender bender, which required the radiator support, grille and hood latch to be replaced. Then I chased down vac leaks all over the engine compartment for the next 3 months.

Then rotors, brakes and tires; three lugs have snapped as well. My driver front broke a belt within 20,000 miles of replacing it the first time, so I had to put a new tire on. I go to get the car inspected, and the reverse lights don't work, and that day an exhaust leak starts. The next day the car will barely stay running. I do a smoke test and the smoke is pouring out from underneath the manifold...the PCV hose had cracked. I replaced it, 2 days later it pops off the PCV valve, requiring the car to be taken apart again. Yesterday I found that the new tire I had put on the driver side has bald patches again. I don't drift or race, and the car is in alignment. I suspect that maybe the 'alignment' is to Ford specs and not the correct ones, or I wonder if some suspension components aren't beginning to go. I swear, it's been one thing after another with this car.

Purchased my 2014 Ford Focus SE Hatchback just 2 months. 38k miles, I'm the second owner.
Already replaced and fixed the following.

1. New Clutch
2. New TCM
3. New Seals
4. PCM reprogram
5. Fixed loose trim around windows
6. Anti-freeze smell, had checked by dealer couldn't find any leaks, but still smells like Anti-freeze.

Clutch still shutters and slips from 1st to 2nd after all new Clutch and seal replacements with PCM and TCM. Still smells like Anti-Freeze.

I've personally owned over 12 cars in my life time, and never had this many issues with any of them in the first 3 years of their life. Many were over 180k miles on them. I'm worried this Focus won't see 40k without more repairs.

It's fun to drive, handles nice, nice leather bucket seats, nice design and styling, but poor build quality and suffers from too many issues for a 3 years old car with ony 38k miles on it.

Like my BMW's I used to own it's a LOVE HATE relationship. Drives nice, handles nice looks nice, but too many things going wrong.

That's just crazy even for a car that's 14 years old. They sure don't make cares like they used to. 1960's were the good years for American made cars. Seems like all cars now are made to throw away after 3 years. Just like most junk sold today. Sad. I love cars.
