EDIT: I believe that 19N08 also outlines a one-time clutch pack replacement for any Fiesta or Focus with the DPS6, regardless of age or mileage. 100,001 miles or 300k miles, doesn't matter. The only caveat is that it must be done before February 20, 2020.

I didn't see anything in the Ford info that mentioned Feb 20 2020

Will this cover the transmission or only the clutch? We had the module replaced a year ago and have still had the shudder. I am guessing that the torque eventually snapped something in my transmission last week. Dealer is saying it is not covered. 2014 Focus with 82,000 miles.

I chatted with a Ford Service rep online about 14N08 for my 2012 which is outside the coverage limits of 14M01 and she knew of 14N08 but said I did not qualify for any coverage under that so unless someone can find written documentation of the Feb 20, 2020 clause, I don't think any of us will be able to take advantage of that.

Extending warranties for DPS6 automatic transmissions, covering the clutch,
related hardware, and repairs for seven (7) years or 100,000 miles for:
2014MY through to 2016MY Focus vehicles built between July 4, 2013 to Nov 5, 2015

Reimbursing customers in this group who have previously paid for repairs that would now be covered under this warranty extension.

  1. The NHTSA issues a recall, meaning Ford buys back our cars or replaces the DPS6 with an altogether different transmission.
  2. The NHTSA does not come back with a recall and Ford dodges a bullet, but extends the warranty in preparation for the inevitable class action against them.
By the time Ford needs to make a decision about another Customer Satisfaction Program (haha) extension, the NHTSA will be done with its investigation.

Man, I'd be ecstatic if Ford replaced my DPS6 with a normal automatic transmission. I'd have zero reason to ever want to get rid of it, since the rest of the car is great. I can't believe they never offered that in later years anyway. Surely the 6F35 or similar would just bolt right up to the 2.0, and the mounting can't be that different...

Just got a notice in the mail for 19N08. Earlier in the summer I had my TCM replaced, but I still have shuddering. I feel like I should get the clutch replaced... but I also don't wanna have more problems.... I just want my car to work...

Same here. But guess what? It might not (entirely?!) be your clutches! Well, not exclusively, at least.

I let the dealer hold onto my car last month for 3 days, and they never even got around to looking at it. Rental cars are on a waitlist, so that's clearly not going to work for me.

The dealer I've gone to for the first 6 transmission services (combination of TCM/clutches/relearns/etc...) have all new people, and they're really unpleasant to work with. My new service advisor was saying my car isn't covered by any warranty and could cost me around $3500. I went to Ford Customer Service and they assured me that they were mistaken, so I guess that's nice to know?

Of course that prompted me to call another dealer, and we had a nice long chat. It sounds like my Clutch Actuators are struggling (which is actually a thing in a "higher-mileage" car!!!), and is a pricey repair as it's not covered under any warranty, despite being fully capable of causing shudder. If I take my car in for yet another clutch/TCM job, they'd handle the "5 parts" for $820, since they'd be in the transmission already for the clutch job. What 5 parts are they referring to?

Lately it's shuddering and jerking into gear REALLY hard, hard enough to snap peoples necks and hurt them when it decides to slam into gear. So far the best and most consistent "what the hell, car?!" moment is when I try to go up a hill in a friends parking lot at about 10-15mph. For some reason, the car upshifts into 3rd?, realizes it can't handle it and makes a loud noise before downshifting into first and essentially dropping the clutch. Sometimes it chirps the tires before it makes more mechanical slappy noises and upshifts again. I've only been yelled at once, so far. This kind of BS is why I never want to drive anywhere around town. This car just simply isn't built for low-speed roads. It does OK on the highway as long as you don't have to get it to downshift to pass someone.

So uh, sorry for the late-night rant? I've spent yet another weekend exploring my options on how to deal with this nonsense, and I'm getting really tired of it. Unfortunately the car isn't worth much for a trade-in, since a 5-speed 2009 Civic is apparently worth more. This car has been such a waste of time and money. :(

By now, most owners should have received a letter like the one below, which clearly says that you should be able to get at least one more clutch pack replacement regardless of age or mileage

While it is good to see the Feb 20, 2020 date in writing, it seems as thought the dealerships and Ford corporate is applying this in a more narrow fashion than we all would like. That is, this new program brings in additional model years into the extended warranty without necessary broadening the terms of the 14M01/14M02 programs for those covered under its terms. So, if you've already had a clutch replaced under 14M01, you might have trouble getting a dealer to agree that you qualify for the new program if you've exceeded the time or mileage limitations.

This is probably the reason that I didn't get a letter for my 2012 saying that i qualify for 19N07/19N08. In addition, I contacted someone at Ford who said I don't qualify for anything.

It also seems that Ford doesn't want to be continually replacing clutches even if the replacement ones aren't working either given the emphasis on the "one time replacement." This does not give one great confidence that they have indeed fixed the problem but rather are looking to limit their losses.

Rest assured, the trans fiasco is one reason why Ford wants to go to SUV only, to make a cleaner break with a problem line they intentionally stretched way longer than they should have. They gotta quit making parts including clutchpacks at some point.

Hey, they will be happy to sell you a truck!
