No start problem randomly

Hi, I have a 2016 1.5 diesel manual transmission that starts randomly.

On a no start when I turn the key I will hear a click and a second click moments later. The starter will not turn.

Some times a few starting tries will start the engine, other times IŽll try a half an hour or a day later and it will start right up like new.

When starting the starter sounds strong.
  • Battery is fine (tested at a battery workshop)
  • All lights and electrics work strong.
  • Clutch switch seem to work since it shows a warning when I do not clutch but ok if I clutch,
  • Bypassed the starter relay - no change

Tried to jump start it and it does not work. Charging it over jumper cables does not help.

Car self test mode reads battery at 11,7V not running, 14,8V running

Pushed the car down a hill, popped the cluth and it started right away.

Any ideas?

YES. After my post the starter stopped turning at all, Just clicked. Turned out it was completely burned out. Replaced the starter and no problems since.

How difficult is replacing the starter on these cars?
