I'm not bringing my car to ford unless I absolutely cannot fix it myself. They charge way too much and not even fix the root issue. Waste of money.
Agreed. It was never the clutch, and always the TCM. The symptoms in the OP were classic TCM.

Every dealership is different. Some suck, some are great. So far, mine's been great.

I had the shutter since July, then a week ago it started slipping out of gear and at a stop would feel like neutral when i tried to take off occasionally. Then it did it more and more and I brought it in and they said definitely TCM (I have 139k) and my build date is 4/2016 so not under the 150k warranty apparently. They charged me 945 to replace the tcm. I leave and drive 20 miles and it acts up again. I leave to head back and it starts acting worse and revved up almost every time I pressed on the gas. So the tcm didn't fix it and now after driving it further the check engine light came on for the first time. They took apart the transmission and said clutch packs need replaced but since the forks were binding and sticking they claimed that's the cause of premature clutch pack wear (which these have 53,000 on them, my previous two lasted 42 and 44k so I don't consider that premature at all). Now they want 2250 to do the work (after a 10% discount they offered). My clutch packs are under a 2 year ford parts warranty. This could all be covered and them just charge me the forks and bearing and any additional labor. Especially after charging me for the tcm when it didn't fix the problem.

What would cause the forks to bind?
Is 53,000 on clutch packs premature?
They asked for $1005 approval just to diagnose. Does that seem reasonable in labor to open it up and check?
Is 2250 total for clutch packs/forks/bearing reasonable (10% off 2500 original estimate)?
Any questions I should ask for the evidence they used to reach their conclusion?

You don't have to post your same "what can I do to get the dealer to cover this" story in 10 places. You're filling up the internet.
