Not that it really matters, but the coverages are used progressively.

Everything under 3/36 until that's over, then the 5/60 Power Train, 8(?)/80 emissions, then the TCM warranty extension to 10/150.

And for the PZEV engines, especially in California, it is 15 yr/150,000. Now that beats Hyundai's 10 yr/100k...!

What's concernoing me is that according to my manual, the TCM is considered an emmisions part, which the manual says is only warrenteed for 3yr/60k km (Canada), though I'm encouraged by squad D's comments above which suggests that TCMs are fully covered here in Canada even though we've not received any notification up here of the extended warrenty (14m02)

Hey guys, I have a problem with my dealership right now Russ Milne Ford in Macomb MI. Loyal customer here.. multiple cars bought. 2012 SEL with 88000 miles.

Well 3 weeks ago I brought my 2012 Focus in to have the TCM module problem looked at... was having loss of power, seemed like the car was in 5th gear from a stop.. or in 11th gear (exaggeration haha ) at 70 MPH. Well they performed a "reprogram". Under the TCM program. Well last week the trans started "slipping" whenever it tried to change gears.. it was like the clutch remained engaged for a couple seconds after it should have shifted already.. both in acceleration and deceleration .. got a big red warning sign this time . "Service Transmission Now"

So I took it in. Now they are telling me, nope.. your clutch plates are worn out...to the tune of $1600 bucks! Ive argued that yeah, of course its wore out.. the computer has been shifting the transmission with a faulty module!! To no avail.. they are telling me that the diagnostic computer has to report a certain "Code" for them to cover this.. It doesnt take Sherlock Holmes to deduce this is a prob developed because of the bad TCM right? Am I in the wrong here?

I WANT to remain a loyal customer to RUSS MILNE FORD in Macomb MI... but if they dont stand by this obvious problem from a bad TCM.. I just cant remain a customer from such a fleecing. What would you guys do?

PS. THIS is an excerpt of the TCM program which decribes my problem to a T : Ford is extending the warranty coverage on the DPS6 Automatic Transmission Control Module (TCM) to 10 years of service or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle, whichever occurs first. This extended warranty coverage will address intermittent symptoms of loss of transmission engagement while driving, no-start, or a lack of power

Well, even if the TCM is not the source of the problem I would have thought clutch issues in a 2012 DCT automatic would be covered under the power train warrenty. Mine has been.

I was covered up until 75K miles.. Im at 88000. But still.. this is a faulty transmission, no two ways around it.. Im being made to pay for their bad engineering as far as Im concerned. Very unhappy here.. big Ford supporter.. family of Ford drivers and workers.. Dad , uncle (both deceased) were Ford employees for their whole working years. Disheartened to say the least.

RUSS MILNE FORD in Macomb MI "HAD" a lifelong customer, now... not so much. In fact, Ill dissuade anyone who asks me from doing business with them.

fedup23 - check the beginning of this thread for details on the warranty extension for clutches/seals/programming:http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/m...tch-parts.html

At 7/100 for coverage extension you'd still be covered by that, it IS a different problem than the TCM warranty extension you are referring to.

Exactly, seems to me you should be covered.

Yeah I know about 14m01 guys, thanks.. lucky me though... my car is not sending the "right" code for it to be covered under this. They are telling me the code is sending a "friction" warning on the clutch which they say is not the same as the "shudder" warranty. I feel like RUSS MILNE is screwing me over.

I'd go to another dealer. You dont have to go where you bought your car.
