Ok, so some of the brown seal replacements ARE returning, just not the ones from makuloco2000.

Just like some of the black seal replacements returned, so are the brown seals. So saying the brown seals have "solved the problem" is incorrect. They may be solving the problem better, but not completely solving the problem.

Hence, look for yet more seal updates from FoMoCo. So the brown seals aren't the real deal. Better yes. A step in the right direction, yes. But just a step. Unless the brown seals are "it" -- no more from Ford and we'll just have to live with the fact that some seals are going to leak and there's nothing more we can do about it.

Now, how is that stirring up controversy? Asking questions and getting an explanation is stirring up controversy? Trying to clarify when one person says they don't leak vs. someone who says they do leak is controversy in and of itself. You'd think people would get more logical thinking training from Carey Business School. Lord knows it costs enough.

Bottom line: the latest and most current fix from Ford isn't a fix for everyone.

And who "elected" you moderator to decide what controversy can and can't be stirred up on FocusFanatics?

Unless I have misread the previous posts, the new input shaft seal just came out:

According to SUPERLOOP, who works in a Ford parts department, the new clutch and seal now come in a kit.

How could there be any data on seal failure for a "D" revision seal if it was just released?

It is not very nice of you to present what is known in logic as a "false dilemma" and profess that one party or the other must be lying when you know darn well the two statements are not mutually exclusive and nobody was lying. Frankly it is kind of a douchey thing to do and if I were Maculoco I would be kind of pissed at the insinuation. He has been very upfront in giving his view of things with no agenda behind his statements - just telling it as he sees it. Don't run him off.

If he runs off, he runs off on his own. Not my problem. He just needs to quit saying misleading things like the brown seals are "the real deal."

Present the information, keep making great instructional videos, keep posting them. Quit making statements about the quality of the components and materials used.

Here's the service procedure, here's what we do, here's how we do it, here's why we do it. When he says none of the brown seals have returned on the jobs he's done, some of us assume (obviously incorrectly) that none of the brown seals every service technician have done have returned. It leads me (well not really as I don't give a shit) to believe the brown seals are an absolute fix.

Clearly they aren't and we have no idea how much better or worse they are than the black seals. Regardless of Ford part number suffix -A, -F, -G, etc. and regardless how long they've been in service. All we have to go on is past seal performance, and past seal performance is still failing up to this minute.

Don't like what I post? Tough shit, life's rough. Someone quits posting because of me? Tough shit, ask me if I care.

Pretty stupid assumption on your part based on one person's experience.

Opinions are nice; except mine. I'm really fine with that. Doesn't matter one way or the other to me or you. It has no effect on anyone here. No one listens to me, nor do I listen to them. Maybe when we ask / answer mundane questions, but on opinions we all have them, and we all think ours is correct (I respect others' opinions, even if they are wrong). We can all puff out our chests on being experts in any damn field or any damn aspect of Ford Focuses we want. We can all act like we are making a difference; like we really matter. It's fun to play in the big pissing contest which is all these forums mostly are. We can all stir up shit because it's fun; it's harmless.

I haven't enough posts bitching like a cry baby and all woe is me, poor pitiful me, life's not fair that I have DCT problems (real or imagined) to say "the DCT sucks, it's terrible engineering, awful design, Ford can't solve these extremely difficult to solve issues, stupid of Ford to blah blah blah".

But I do enjoy the posts. It's all in fun; it's an aversion. It's a break from worrying about loved ones in Afghanistan. Let's not take ourselves too seriously -- but that gets to be your choice how seriously you take yourself or anyone else. It makes no difference in our daily lives, or our daily walk with the deity of our choice on the opinions here. It's simply a role playing game where our alter-egos get to come out and play.

But seriously, the DCT sucks. Or does it? Let's take a vote!

It sucks when it:
Grinds
Lags
Makes whirrly noises when parked and off
Slides backwards a foot when placed in park
When it revs high while attempting to make a pass but does go faster
Clanks chatters
Lacks power
Grinds in reverse

Its great when:
- it does none of the above

Absolutely are mutually exclusive. x = 0 and x >= 1 where x is an integer valued >= 0 most certainly are.

Couldn't that point to the fact that some folks have had bad service with their service reps, i.e. they did not perform the TSB correctly? It is possible. If Brian is stating he has not seen any cars come back then a poorly installed seal could be a reason why some folks have not been lucky with their repairs. Sure, its also possible that the seals aren't good, but as with all issues, it is only the folks who want to complain (rightfully so) that do so on this forum. Not all Ford service technicians are created equal.

The bigger picture here is that fact that the Ford extended the warranty of DCT-equipped Focii. Not trying to put words in folks' mouth but this is good news.

Whoa. So you've had times when it's been in the "sucks" state and times when it's been in the "great" state?
