The thing is that the transmission was only one infuriating aspect of that car. Even if the transmission gave no trouble, there would still be suspension noises, creaking sheetmetal in the door hinge area, peeling chrome (razor sharp!) on the steering wheel, and before I got rid of it, squealing bearings in the heater blower motor.

It cost me a lot to trade in that car, but it was worth every penny. I hated it and it was making me miserable.

The Subaru that replaced it now has 14,000 miles on it and not a single issue.

Just a thought.

Good idea. Do they even sell enough vehicles to warrant a web site?

We have at least a few on FocusFanatics that feel Ford is making zero progress in the DCT seal leaking and clutch chatter problems. I find it interesting that you differ from others by saying the brown seals work.
The key aspect of everyones fixes is time. I have lost track how many people came away with a fix and everything was fine, but posted here several weeks/months later that the problems came back.

It is extremely encouraging, however, that Ford has extended the warranty instead of perpetuating the "everything is normal-must be the driver" myth

It will also inadvertently help the various types of do it yourself solutions posted here raining from WOT to all sorts of feathering techniques, by making it public (from ford) that there IS an issue and its NOT uninformed consumers.

If it "was worth every penny" why would need to be reimbursed?

Ok, here's what I don't get. makuloco2000 says they aren't coming back. You say others say they are coming back. Who's right? I guess makuloco2000 means they aren't coming back the minute they leave the service department, and you mean they are coming back some time later? So basically makuloco2000 is being deceptive by (paraphrasing) "Yep, I perform the TSB, finish the job, and it doesn't 'come back' before we deliver the vehicle to the customer parking area."

And why are you still on this forum?

When did we elect you to be moderator?

Makuloco is not being deceptive as you well know, but he is one guy in one shop and obviously experiences are differing for whatever reasons. He also said he thought the last set of parts were a solid fix based on the fact they had not changed in a while . . . then they changed again. What of it?

I'll quit listening to makuloco2000. Even though he's a technician, he clearly knows not what he's talking about.

makuloco2000 (Brian) is doing us a great service by coming on this forum and keeping us in the loop as to what is going on. As for the longevity of the latest "D" seal and revision "F" clutch, Brian (or anybody at Ford) has no way of knowing how it will hold up long term in the field. We can hope that Ford/Getrag and Luk have worked out some of the bugs in the DPS6 and the latest parts are a long term fix.

makuloco2000 when asked on this forum if any of the brown seal replacement jobs he's performed have come back. "Never" was his reply.

So what am I missing? makuloco2000 says they aren't returning, Mazda drivers say they are. Once again I ask (unless non-moderators aren't allowed to ask) who is lying?

I hope it's not makuloco2000.

As you well know, nobody is lying. Some forum members have had the brown seals fail. Apparently makuloco had not seen any of the one he worked on come back yet. End of story. Keep trying to stir muck though.
