Has anyone installed this compact amp behind the stereo and how difficult was it to install? Also, any better sound for the door speakers with this hooked up?

I think you will be very unhappy with what a small amp alone will do. Having replaced stereo or amp in a few cars, I'm usually surprised what just a small amp can do. Not on the focus. The speakers are total garbage and the output signal from the head unit is heavily voiced. I have a '13 SE with the 6 channel audio and did a full upgrade speakers / amp / sub. Originally I used the new amps built in speaker-level inputs to drive everything but it sounded like trash. I had to put in an audio control dq-61 to fix the signal. Sorry to bear the bad news, but I wouldn't waste your time with that small amp.

So you are saying you didn’t notice any difference at all amping the door speakers vs not amping the door speakers?

The amp made it louder, but the quality was still bad, really bad. Bad enough that I didn't care that it got louder. The problem is both the front and rear factory speaker outputs roll off most of the bass, the rear speaker outputs are essentially mid range only and the front speakers have the mid scooped a bit. They do this because the stock speakers are cheap and start to distort really easily - the can't handle anything low. You can fix this with a device that sums all the inputs and has an equalizer. Thats what I am using the dq-61 for. Put the amp in if you want but I think you will be disappointed.

Interesting. I wonder if you can fix that problem by replacing the factory stereo itself with an aftermarket one to get rid of the door speakers getting roll off.. but then again that would defeat the purpose of maintaining the factory stereo I suppose. Thanks for the input
