2013 Ford focus se automatic goes into limp mode

Hello I currently I'm financing a 2013 Ford focus se and I have no but problems with it. With this being my first car I was honestly excited to finally have car and now only a year of just owning it it's been plagued with electrical issues. It's to a point where I'm scared to drive my car because I always lose power at random times while I'm driving and it's became a pain since I lost my job at Amazon because of it and I literally just started.i went to 2 mechanic shops and even called a mobile mechanic twice and the issue is still there after going to a 3rd mechanic shop I have been told that it is either or the wiring harness or the bcm itself can someone please help me and tell me what could be the cause.

My guess is the TCM for the infamous DCT transmission?

"Limp mode" is frequently a failure of the TCM, and 2012 and 2013 are notorious for having an issue with the cracking solder that causes communication issues (which then puts you into limp mode as a safety measure).

What's the build date? How many miles are on it? Put your VIN into the Ford ETIS site to verify that you're covered by the 14M programs (one covers the TCM for 10y/150k miles and the other covers the transmission for 7y/100k miles).

You might be out of the extended warranty period for the transmission, but you're almost certainly still covered for the TCM. Get it into a high-volume dealership ASAP and have them cover it under warranty. They should replace the TCM itself and flash the newest software.

If you happen to be within the extended warranty period for the clutches (ie. you have a late-build 2013 and it's been driven a "normal" amount), absolutely tell them you were having issues with "shudder" prior to the TCM crapping out; they'll run the diagnostic and if you're outside the 250 RPM threshold (which odds are you will be), they should replace the clutch pack.

Anything under warranty is free. Go to a "high volume" dealership because they're less likely to try getting out of doing the work. If you happen to be out of warranty on the transmission and it fails diagnostic testing, you could try calling the customer service line set up specifically for DPS6 issues at 1-833-805-3673. They probably won't help you, but you could always try being polite, explaining the situation, and asking if they could help you out. Maybe they'll cover half the cost or something (they work with the dealership for reimbursement, so you'll need to have it recorded that you failed the diagnostic before calling).

Good luck!
