There’s been a recall for 2012-2016 Focus & Fiesta DCT’s? Would you happen to have a link to that ‘recall’? I must have missed it.

Ford’s made “every effort to make it right?” Maybe you’ve missed some of the recent articles that have come out regarding Ford & how they knowingly kept selling the faulty transmissions after 2012.

Having an opinion is fine however insulting DCT owners & talking about recalls that never existed is ridiculous.

I misspoke about a recall. But there are Tsbs. Not to mention an additional warranty and other efforts by Ford.no there was no conspiracy or cover up if there were there would be no tsbs addressing it. I think someone needs a remedial english course what I said was indeed an opinion you dont have to like it nor does it even have to be true thats what an opinion is! Grow up **** pants

There's been news articles on it from Ford documents so it's not a conspiracy. All a TSB does is address there is an issue, it sometimes does not come with a fix and it puts the repair costs still in the customer's wallet indefinitely.

Trust me man, all of these recent ‘extended warranty’ coverage letters on the transmissions that have been sent out have nothing to do with providing a service to its customers. What a joke. These letters are a direct result of all the recent media backlash Ford has taken because they knowingly kept selling these vehicles after 2012 without fixing the transmissions.

Keep in mind that just a few months ago Ford wanted me to pay $2200 out of pocket for a new clutch. And now ‘an extended warranty’ for 7/100 or by Feb 2020 letter has been sent out after all of the media scrutiny Ford has taken? Haha!! This has nothing to do with helping consumers, but has EVERYTHING to do with trying to protect their image & potential class actions down the road.

Haha, what a tool. I can't imagine the complete lack of independent thought that leads to being a corporate apologist.

But hey, I guess it's a free country. You're entitled to your dumb opinion and your lame justifications for it.

Ford isn't "in trouble" over the DCT. They'll continue to use their army of lawyers to slow roll this as owners dump their cars on the next owner, or choose not to pay out of pocket to fix the shyte trans. I owned a few Accords before getting a Focus. Honda had major trans issues years ago. They extended the warranty on some and quietly replaced others, but the problem eventually went away (for Honda) as the cars aged and died off.

I do agree with you (especially in America, where the welfare of corporations are put above the welfare of the public), but in comparison to your Honda story, was there proof that Honda knew the transmissions were defective before putting them into production and did they continue to use them for 8 years after the fact?

I would argue that the real difference in this situation is that Ford was caught lying. They can't just pretend like it's a crappy transmission and they're sorry about it.

Now, do I think that's going to translate in a mass buyback of every DPS6-equipped Focus and Fiesta on the road? And/or major damages being paid to customers who were blatantly lied to about the DPS6? Nope. Not at all.

I do believe Ford will get hit with damages, and that it will be more than $200 or whatever BS amount was available to customers in the last (tossed) class action. If the NHTSA comes back with a finding that the DPS6 is defective and dangerous, then Ford will have to replace them with something else (or buy back the car), at which point I think we'll see a slushbox option. If that happens, I doubt there will be a manual replacement option, as Ford sold us "automatics"...though perhaps they'll make it work for anyone who says they bought the car for the fuel economy and is willing to agree to a manual.

I think a lot hinges on the NHTSA findings.

Yes, this is different. In my Honda example, I don't think the company was ever accused/proven of lying.

I'm guessing that Ford will have to pay damages, and I'm guessing that after the lawyers take their cut, DCT owners will get a ridiculous $5 check or discount offers on new Ford vehicles. I hope I'm wrong.

Oh, yeah, the only real winners here are the lawyers. As usual.

I'm generally pretty cynical, but I truly believe the terms of the class action - because there will absolutely be another one - will be quite a bit better than the last (and apply to more people). Of course, that's a low bar, but it is what it is.
