I didnít call that number, just the standard customer care number. I swear those reps donít even know what DCT is or what it stands for.

Iíll say this though, when you google that 833 number, the article says 2014-2016 models & build dates 07/13 to 05-15. My build date is 06/13 so they probably will figure out a way to not do anything. Iíll call anyways though & if the conversation starts heading in that direction then Iíll just hang up. I can only take so much of their BS.

No idea what percentage of those were cars with the DPS6, but given the low sales of the Focus 1.0 (which came with the 6F15 hydraulic auto) and the public's general lack of interest in manuals, it's the overwhelming majority. I'm guessing at least 80%.

I will admit to being stupidly optimistic that they will (eventually) offer a replacement of the MTX-75 manual or 6F35 auto as an alternative to scrapping every Fiesta and Focus (assuming a recall by the NHTSA, because heaven knows they're not going to do it on their own). It's incredibly unlikely, though <img src="http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile_sad.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Sad" class="inlineimg" />

Your 2013 is out of warranty because it's over 100k miles? If so - and I mentioned this in my recall thread - Ford is apparently offering a one-time fix for any Fiesta or Focus with the DPS6, regardless of age or mileage, as long as you get it done before February 20, 2020.

If you get that done and you're interested in keeping the Focus, Tom's tune might be a consideration since fresh clutches are the best time to use it. It probably does something to extend the life of the clutches even if it's not the miracle cure he'd have you think it is.

Of course, we should have an NHTSA determination before a new set of clutches wear out, unless you drive more than 15k miles per year.

My build date is 06/13 & the current mileage is is only 40k. I just got off the phone with Ford customer service & it’s the same nonsense everytime. I seem to always get a rep. that’s seemingly clueless to what a DCT even is or what it means. It’s so exhausting to spend 5mins on the phone with them that I typically just end the call. I mean, what’s the point? They’re not willing to do anything & tell me everytime that the powertrain warranty has expired & that nothing is covered except for the TCM.

Next time you call tell them you are recording the conversation for your attorney.

Just to add to all this, keep in mind that the NORMAL lifespan of the clutch packs is 70k miles. I read this in Ford's documentation on the DCT clutch packs somewhere, i'll have to go look that up again.

So even without all of the leaky seals/TCM/studdering/slipping/grinding issues that we had with the DCT over the years... you could never expect your clutches to last past 70k. Not that many would not last past that, clutch wear has many variables and varies greatly from driver to driver.

The point is, Ford may consider any issues past 70k to be normal. As long as your car still drives without too much clutch studder or slippage, and its not due to an oil leak, Ford may not have any obligations to replace your clutch for free.

I can accept that. What bothers me is that I was not told upfront that there was a high dollar wear item in my transmission when I bought the car.

I called that number & gave them the VIN. Nothing is covered except for the TCM. Itís exhausting trying to talk with these people over the phone. Half the time I can barely understand them & they act as though theyíve never heard of a DCT. Iím done wasting time calling these toll-free numbers.

Haven't been on this forum in a few years. My wife was one of the many unfortunate souls who purchased a 2012 Focus Hatchback. Fine automobile for a very short time then the DCT problems started. It first started as an inconvenience as we kept taking it back for a "reprogram". Then it progressively got to be a nightmare to the point she was afraid to drive the car. We went through all the hoops that our dealer made us go through because she really wanted to like the car but the tranny issues got so bad I contacted regional reps and then folks in Flint and wanted a buy-back to which I was almost laughed at over the phone. And what got to me a lot was the admission by a service writer of the script of responses he/she was supposed to give us directed by Ford to string it along. On her own my wife decided after two years of dealing with this Ford failure to trade it in on a Fusion. I was NOT happy she bought another Ford because I was DONE with Ford at this point but when I thought about it, no other car manufacturer would have taken that Focus as a trade given it's issues. Best decision made. The Fusion, with conventional tranny, has been an excellent vehicle for us. Ford dropped the ball on this and no matter how long they extend warranties for each year of the failed model sold, it will not make it any better to someone who bought one.

Ford ETIS site - DCT extended warranty

This is what came back for our VIN. Its a 2015. May be a quick way to determine whether you have the extended DCT warranty.

Your DST is covered for 7 Years / 100K Miles so you've still got until 6/13/2020.

You mean DCT, correct? If not, whatís DST?

Iíve been told three times now by Ford customer service & the dealer that only my TCM is covered & nothing else. I honestly have no idea, but am just patient awaiting to see what happens with the class action & recent articles.

I can't attach a pdf to a thread, but if you send me a PM with your email, I'll send you a copy of the 7 Year / 100k Ford Extended Warranty for 2012-2013 Focus DPS6 / DCT transmission.
