But there is no fix, correct? Don’t they just basically replace the worn out clutches & then they’ll eventually fail again? I’m very confused on where this is all going now? Are they going to buyback these cars, change the transmissions? Or nothing at all.

The last time I was at the dealer, back in November, they wanted me to pay $2200 for a clutch. I’m certainly glad I refused.

Totally agree. They still seem to be replacing bad parts with more of the same and as far as we know, will continue to do just that until they can say we've gotten enough life out of these cars and they're ready for the junkyard. I was very underwhelmed by their response. "It's a solid transmission." What a joke. They've really lowered the bar on this one if they really think that. How many of these Ford guys own and drive one themselves? That's what I'd like to know.

I'm standing by my belief that the software at least is to blame largely for shudder issues, aside from all out mechanical failure. The more I research this transmission in Renault's vehicles, the more it points to this.

There's a UK forum for Renault and I've found multiple threads where people bring up the Ford version. They say Renault has figured it out, Ford hasn't.

Keep making the car ride the clutches Ford. All this and they've ruined their reputation over an issue they could fix. Mind boggling.

EDIT: it was her TCM and it was the original. Supposedly these issues with the TCM have been fixed. So far on my 2016, I'm about to turn over to 86,000 miles on the original TCM.

I'm going to need links instead of your executive summary, because there is a fair amount of misinformation being spread around regarding PowerShift, Renault, and the Getrag DCT lineup in general.

The short version is that Renault didn't fix anything, they just moved to the wet variant (6DCT450 / 6DCT470 and depending on torque requirements).

Furthermore, the DPS6 is not that same as the EDC; it's Ford's own variation on the 6DCT250 platform. A presentation by Magna PT (who bought Getrag in 2015 and finally retired the Getrag name in 2018) in 2016 even speaks to this fact, since it notes the changes to the 6DCT250 for use in the Renault Clio RS. "6DCT250" is a layout, or a platform. Not every implementation of the 6DCT250 is the same (either in software or hardware).

And even if it were the same, Renault only made the EDC available on very specific combinations of their cars, and only in certain markets. Specifically, the Mégane IV and Scénic IV when mated to the K9K 846 1.5L dCi 110 FAP diesel, and a revised version (dubbed "Twinamic") in the Twingo when mated to the TCe 90 (gas) engine. The EDC/Twinamic never came standard, and was only available in some places. And as I linked above, they have the same issues as the DPS6.
